Lotus Esprit S4s cylinder head cleaning

Removing, polishing and refitting the Esprit cylinder head.

Cleaning head with solvent, rag and spinning disc air tool Cleaned head with exhaust manifold removed. 3 missing manifold studs were replaced Measuring shims and readjusting valve clearances is a very time consuming process to get right

Shims! Now to put them all  back in their individual drawers Top of valves, where shims are added. Also intake and especially exhaust ports have been cleaned of carbon buildup Cam tower must be torqued down each time to measure valve clearances to see if all shims are correct (unintentional product placement in this photo)
